Kyron Horman Update / David Durham Connection? (Part 3)

Well, I must say, first off, thank you for all your comments.  And, there appears to be a resolution to my initial question, although agreed said resolution may not be that important.  However, a reader on the East Coast made a copy of the blog thread to which some of you have referred.  She has agreed to send it to me.  Shortly after that publication, it was pulled as an unsubstantiated rumor.

As I have said previously, one of the emails I received was from an individual who claimed first hand knowledge.  I would like to say to that individual that you need to come forward and furnish your information to law enforcement.  I know you expressed concern about your own safety.  I will admit that dirty cops do exist; but, thankfully, in Oregon they are a rarity.  Contact a law enforcement agency that you trust.  I might suggest the Oregon State Police.  At one point, I would have suggested the FBI, but quite frankly I now feel they would dismiss you out of hand.  If you want to send more detailed information to me, I will make sure that it goes to a proper person in a proper agency.  If you have the doctor’s name, which you seem to indicate, that would tend to prove your credibility.  Finally, if you’ve started a rumor just to see how far it would go, then shame on you.

For my other readers, it was not my intention to perpetuate a false rumor.  I did make efforts to research the reported ‘hunting trip’ story prior to my blog posting.  After that failed, I went to my next best source, my readers; many of whom follow these various cases more closely than I do.

I think we all have to admit that there are some strange correlations between Kyron Horman’s disappearance and the David Durham situation.  Any reports, no matter how fanciful, are not easily dismissed.  Practically anything is on the table at this point.  As is said, sometimes life can be stranger than fiction.

Based on my experiences, I still find it incredible that David Durham was able to escape after shooting Dodds.  To my mind, there are but two possibilities:  Durham is dead somewhere and his body has not yet been found; or someone helped him to evade capture.  I believe it is the second of the two.

  1. Back in June you wrote a blog on David Durham
    That was pretty good
The chase after this rumor is I suppose a good thing
If there are dirty cops or one in the Skyline area I would guess you know more about him than we do

  3. I would LOVE to see evidence of locals assisting in turning up tips for LE. One thing a local might do is talk with folks on Sauvie who know Durham.

I have no difficulty believing dirty cops and ethically/legally questionable manuevers by various LE/DA in pursuit of evidence. I believe we've seen that in Ky's case, starting with "wanted" posters of Terri.

I digress. The problem with believing Durham as a source lies in this widely-quoted statement about aliens directing his actions. Any locals talked to Nancy or others about this?

"“He's been talking about talking to an alien who's been telling him what to do. He's convinced the police are going to come and get him. He's packed his bags and he's ready to go in case Armageddon happens," said neighbor Nancy Meyer."

    snipped from:

But quoted verbatim at many MSM outlets.

Yeah - Nancy Meyer - also works for a printing company from what I can see.
gotta wonder if maybe she had a beef with an ex-coworker or something...
now what would be the odds that she was a neighbor and also in the same line of work as he was in??
and how close do you have to live to someone in order to 'claim' you're a neighbor???
from the outside looking in - it appears someone somewhere wanted to spoil the reputation of D.A.D and they did a bang up job of that.
and for the record - crazy people have the same opportunities to witness crimes as all us normal people...crazy doesn't mean it didn't happen...Conspiracy Theory with Mel Gibson...
    I rest my case.

  5. Nelson, are you going to furnish the email to law enforcement from this person that said they have "first hand knowledge"? I would think this would be a no brainer.

  6. 32beatspersecond:

It wasn't just Nancy Meyers who thought David Anthony Durham was having some mental health issues. Shauna Hendgen and her daughter Hannah also reported the same thing:

"'He had some bizarre behavior,' said Shauna Hendgen. 'He thought people were out to get him.'

"Her daughter, Hannah, 17, said Durham was deeply upset by the end of his relationship. 'He really loved her and would always talk about her.' She added that Durham thought the police and the FBI were out to get him."

(quoting the Oregonian interview with Shauna Hendgen and Hannah)

Nancy Meyer is David Durham's former roommate, and also the person who adopted Huckleberry. Do a search of David Durham prior address, and you will find Nancy Meyer lives there.

Although Nancy Meyer is not named in this article, it references the "former roommate" adopting Huckleberry the dog:

  8. What I want to know is what cop is/was patrolling the island back in June 2010..who Durham would have recognized and feared and considered "dirty"..so this cop is a Narc detective..cop on the "take"...cop known to associate with crime on the Island? Was Durham on one of his regular walks in Wapato park and came upon something as a witness?

  9. True, thank you for continuing to work on Kyron's case. Something stinks in this whole mess and I would not be the least surprised to find out that someone in LE or higher up in the local community is somehow involved. The whole case and the way LE has handled it is beyond suspicious. Something is rotten in River City and an innocent little boy has been lost in the midst of it, it just makes me sick.
I say check out any and every lead no matter how crazy it seems. Someone out there knows what happened and it may take some crazy thinking and follow up to find them. I'm sure lots of folks would have thought the whole Penn State story was crazy, but it went on for years and no one protected those children because of their own selfish fears and look at the heinous crimes that were committed.
It can happen anywhere and no one is off limits as a possible suspect in Kyron's case. Just my opinion. I hope you will continue your efforts on Kyron's behalf and do what you can to see that he is found and those responsible for his disappearance are brought to justice.
